Remove protective cap from catheter adapter and connect to catheter.

Position tubeing to ensure an unimpeded flow down to drainage bag.

Hang drainage bag on bed frame.

Periodic observation of this system should be made to ensure urine is flowing freely. If a standing column of urine is observed, check for correct positioning of bag and tubing and then for a physical obstruction. If correct positioning or removal of obstruction does not allow freeflow, the bag may need to be change.

Dispose of contents in approval manner.
